How to Use This Guide
Welcome!
We’re excited for you to get started. Here is an overview to help you get the most out of this e-course.
Keep in mind that this is only a suggested approach. Feel free to jump around, and skip sections or entire lessons according to your tastes (we won't judge!)
To navigate to the immediate next section, click on the "complete and continue” button, positioned on the top-right for desktops, bottom of the screen on the app.
Step 1: Read the welcome letter.
The curator who selected the book shares what makes it a Next Big Idea Club pick.
Step 2: Introduce yourself!
Meet your instructor, check out the course overview, and then introduce yourself to fellow members. What is it about this particular book that interested you? Is there a decision you’re trying to make, a specific assessment strategy or perspective you’d like to learn?
Step 3: Take your first lesson.
And we're off! You’re welcome to view, read, and answer any or all of the sections within each lesson. Each lesson usually includes:
- a 2 - 3 minute video, starring the author, that introduces a big idea from the book
- a text transcript of the big idea video (some times with extra material)
- a quiz question and/or a discussion question
You can take a break at any time and come back later for more.
Step 4: Enjoy the resources and bonus materials.
Don’t overlook the final section, because we’ve saved some of the best for last! The resources section includes:
- An exclusive video of the author in conversation with one of our Next Big Idea Club curators
- Audio files: For members who would like to listen to big ideas on the go!
- Talking points: A collection of some of the most shareable stories, facts, and statistics from the book
- Interactive exercises: Try out some of the big ideas in your own life
- A printable reading guide (PDF) that includes an executive overview, author biography, a breakdown of the big ideas, a letter from the curator, interactive exercises, and a quiz
You're ready to begin!
